Have you heard about the Sumatra supply crunch? It’s been crazy! If you haven’t, please read more about it here. Over the last half year, supply has been at a near record low, making prices the highest we have seen in over seven years. We understand as well as anyone that Sumatra is not an easily replaceable origin. In fact, it is one of the very reasons why we love it so much! It adds that little extra oomph to an espresso blend and is also a delight on its own. For those of you who do not need that earthiness, cedar, prune and big body goodness to come specifically from Sumatra, we’ve got a solution, and we call it Su-NOT-ra! After several different trials, our crafty team created a blend that embodies all that we love about Indonesian wet-hulled coffees, without one single Sumatran bean. Su-NOT-ra is a blend of coffees from Asia, Africa and South America and this lovely imposter had even our whole QC team fooled. And they were blindfolded!
While we anticipate that things will resume to a more “normal” state in Sumatra later this year, we are not quite there yet. So, in the meantime, we suggest you give Su-NOT-ra a try. It is available on both coasts and we think it will have you singing.
